So, the update is finally done and I have moved to my own domain! The new site is….drumroll please….www.nopatternrequired.com. I have tried to get everything I could over to the new site, but there might be a couple of hiccups and broken links over the next few days. I will try to get everything ironed out as soon as I can!
For those of you following me on feeds, you will have to go to the new site and add me again to your aggregator or re-enter your email. Sorry about not being more savy about this! But please come on over and enjoy the fun!
Normally, I don’t think it is a good idea to refurbish vintage furniture. Oh sure, I am all for restoration, for matching up a piece with fabric from the correct era, but I have seen some hideous Victorian couches redone with 80’s fabric that have put me off of refurbishing. And sure, experimentation with retro-mod is great, as long as I don’t have to have it in my living room.
But Jeanne Connolly does a good job.
Her “green” furniture store, Vintage Renewal, has got some excellent pieces that make me drool. I am a huge fan of her “toddler” furniture. Especially the Retro Pony Chair:
Absolutely adorable. I love those pom-poms.
Now, I am not completely sold on all her combinations, but everyone has different tastes, right? Some are too shabby chic for me, and others are just wacky. But some of her stuff hits me just right. Which for Hubs means, right in the wallet.
Shop Jeanne’s designs at her Etsy store and her website. Buy green, buy vintage, buy thrifted!
Just a quick post today, the inlaws are in town and we are having a blast showing them the new place! Today my father-in-law was very impressed with the quality of our pink bathroom – even the color! Gotta love that.
Here are some super cute plastic butter dishes I got at the local Goodwill recently. I love the colors! I think I am going to keep one and sell the other…but I can’t decide which one. Anyone want to help me choose?
Tough choice, huh???
I love Craigslist. Being new to the world of Mid-Century collecting, I suddenly find myself in need of EVERYTHING. Luckily, my love of thrifting should enable me, over time, to accumulate the things I want at great prices. But it is the “over time” part that bugs me. I hate being patient! Even if I can’t get everything I want immediately (did I mention I am a terribly, terribly impatient person?) I can still keep track of everything currently out there in my area with Craigslist.
Here is a little mid-century eye candy!
Here is a cute Mid-Century Bar – wood and leather!- if you are in the Michigan area, $175 takes it away. We already have a great bar, but this one is so cute.
Listing is here.
And this fabulous dining room set!If anyone is in the Chicago area, you should pick this one up. This is the info from the listing : Made for the Johnson Furniture Company in Michigan in the 50’s. Set includes 6 chairs, oval pedestal table with 2 18 inch leaves, buffet and mirror lined, glass shelved china cabinet. Also co-ordinating double sided server cart on large gold wheels.
This was my personal favorite for the day. This is exactly (EXACTLY) what I am looking for to fill the dining area in our kitch, but $1500 is a little too steep for me.
I hope to accomplish so many things here, the first of which is going to be to blog every day that I can. We will see how long it lasts! 🙂
